More and more Olympians and top athletes reveal the fact that they put considerable time and energy into mental preparation and that they attend sessions with sport psychologists, who could help them realise their goals.
Even so, many question how sport psychology could relate to physical trainings? A qualified professional can help to develop such mental capabilities, which result in a better sport performance, contribute to creating harmony with other skills, so that the athlete is able to bring out the most of him/herself, increase his/her performance and maintain it effectively in the long run. Even if someone has a good stamina, speedy turn or could be good at allocating his/her strength at the given distance what happens if (s)he loses focus in the water during the race, all the efforts could be lost easily. What creates challenge to a person varies by each and every individual, so a unique, tailor-made solution needs to be worked-out together with the coach and other supporting team members of the athlete.
The Hungarian Swimming Federation has worked with various professionals in the past years, many of whom gave a presentation at the April 2022 child protection web conference.
Viktória Faludi, Gabriella Goschi, Noémi Gyömbér, Lilla Gurisatti, Hajnalka Kalamár, Ágnes Szemes, Levente Balassa, Szabolcs Gergő Harsányi and Ádám Kropp are mentioned here as examples, but regardless of the fact who you work with the most important is to build and maintain trust among the partners, which could help the athlete in every possible way of his/her life.
