The MOL - New Europe Foundation was established by law in 2021 through a partnership between the Hungarian Government and MOL Plc. As a public-interest asset management foundation, it is dedicated to performing a range of public tasks. The Foundation has partially taken over MOL’s corporate social responsibility activities and performs public-interest tasks in the fields of talent development, culture and heritage preservation, social affairs, sustainability, and sports.
Since our establishment, we have been supporting the preparation of Hungarian swimmers — including their qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Our efforts to enhance the professional development of both athletes and coaches were further strengthened by the launch of the Hajós Alfréd Coaching Mentorship Programme in the autumn of 2025, by partnering the Hungarian Swimming Federation in knowhow transfer.
We are actively engaged in the identification and development of talents; we formally recognize with awards those coaches who distinguish themselves both professionally and personally, and who are regarded as role models by their trainees. We are partners to organisations that promote school and recreational sports and encourage everyday physical activity. We nurture promising young athletes at the beginning of their careers, helping them prepare for training and competitions. We also contribute to the work carried out in many of Hungary’s most prestigious sports institutions — from the University of Sports Science, the pinnacle of professional training, to sports federations and clubs. And we support outstanding athletes whose remarkable achievements have earned the admiration of the entire nation. We do all this across a broad spectrum of disciplines — from swimming, water polo and football to rugby and cross-country skiing. Our athletes can count on us!

Sports for Nature is a joint initiative of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), International Olympic Committee (IOC), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Dona Bertarelli Philanthropy. It aims to deliver transformative action for nature across sports, by 2030 and beyond, enabling sports to champion nature and contribute to its protection and restoration. It provides a game plan for sports — at all levels — to accelerate and inspire others to take action for nature.
We are proud that the Hungarian Swimming Federation has become the first signatory worldwide among swimming Federations (in ’23). We will do our best to promote nature protection actions and to contribute to the efforts of the Sports for Nature initiative.
